Dry Skin

Dry skin, although not a serious condition, can be quite uncomfortable, unsightly and cause embarassment to some. Symptoms include a feeling of tightness, itching, flaking, fine lines and cracks that may or may not bleed.

There are many culprits that contribute to dry skin, but the most prevalent one occurs with advancing years- decreased production of sebum, the body's natural moisturizers.

Other factors include climate changes, lack of humidity, harsh chemically laden products, frequent bathing and/or showering (especially with hot water), underlying disorders such as psoriasis and hypothyroidism, alcohol and drugs, dehydration and over exposure to the sun.

Your first line of defence is to consume a healthy diet high in essential fatty acids and gamma linoleic acids. Eating a handful of raw shelled hempseeds everyday provide these exceptional nutrients.

Another very important step is to moisturize religiously!! Avoid bathing with hot water and pat gently when done. Don't buy products loaded with chemicals that strip what little oil your body produces and protect yourself from the harsh elements.

Also important, wear breathable fabrics made with natural fibers with the exception of wool which can be irritating.
